Manhattan

By George Sterling

And what if they have gone, the towers of fame,
And Babylon and the singing tracery,
It is incredible that you should die
Though Nineveh be but a clattering name,
Though Tyre has fallen, and cities of stone and flame
Have lived and then not lived under a sky
Which is blue forever, and eternity
Grind them to rumor, you are not the same!
